Poste proposé : Marine Digital Business Lead

NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC) is Seeking a Proactive Data Collection Consultant based in Benin

Job Summary :

On behalf of NORC, the Consultant will serve as a Data Collection Consultant for the performance evaluation of the Micro-Journey to Self-Reliance: Economic Reintegration for Victims of GBV activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Hub (USAID/GenDev) under Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) in Benin. The Micro-Journey to Self-Reliance program focuses on reducing gender-based violence (GBV) by empowering women economically through business training, mentoring, and coaching, as well as the provision of start-up capital.

The Consultant will :

  • Review the background documents related to Micro-Journey to Self-Reliance;
  • Participate in data collection training and review sessions with NORC’s technical leads;
  • Coordinate and conduct a maximum of two 1-hr semi-structured key informant interviews (KIIs) with representatives from local partner organizations;
  • Recruit interpreters to help conduct KIIs;
  • Coordinate and conduct a maximum of four 1.5-hr KIIs with program participants;
  • Transcribe KIIs; and
  • Contact at least 125 survey respondents via text messages or over the phone.

All tasks are to be undertaken using remote means of communication, including email, phone calls and text messages. NORC will reimburse the Consultant for the communication expenses incurred to conduct the outreach to respondents. NORC and the Consultant will receive support from the local implementing partner by being introduced to potential respondents, specifically program staff and participants. The Consultant’s performance period is October 1, 2022 to February 24, 2023, equivalent to up to approximately 11.25 days (90 hours) of work for all tasks. During this period, the Consultant will coordinate and conduct interviews with representatives of local partner organizations; coordinate and conduct interviews with program participants; recruit program participants for the survey; travel to KII sites; record KIIs in audio; transcribe KIIs and submit audio files, notes, and transcriptions to NORC through its secure transfer port; and update NORC periodically on progress. While the tasks listed below can change based on availability and preference of respondents, NORC’s technical leads and the Consultant will work to adjust the scope of work to be completed in a timeline that is satisfactory to both parties.

Essential :

  • Marine industry experience is essential
  • Five+ years of work experience, ideally in business development, product development, partnerships, and alliances, and/or mergers and acquisitions
  • Held digital strategy and delivery roles, including conceptualizing, designing, and delivering innovative solutions
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, engineering, computer science, information management or related field.
  • Experience operating and influencing effectively across organizations (internally and externally) and within complex contexts
  • You will have a clear understanding of customer requirements and translating them through into specifications
  • Ability to drive people, processes and technology change
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
